[root at localhost fsmg-1.5]# echo "DROP DATABASE fsmg;" | /usr/bin/mysql

[root at localhost fsmg-1.5]# echo "DROP DATABASE fsmg;" | /usr/bin/mysql
ERROR 1008 at line 1: Can't drop database 'fsmg'. Database doesn't exist
[root at localhost fsmg-1.5]# /usr/bin/mysql < /opt/Fortress/defaults/fsmg.sql

Have a look at that - the machine was sitting there after i had
installed RHEL3update4, installed fsmg and found the error in the
browser, then applied your 2 commands - seems the DB wasnt installed?
Anyway you were right, and it fixed it. Off to play and impress my
colleagues :)
