Tomorrow's release will include speedup code for sendmail, Exim and
Postfix, as these are by far the most popular platforms for MailScanner.
I will then try some work on speeding up calls to SpamAssassin. This
will probably only give 5% to 10% increase in speed, but it's my next
target.
The biggest time-consumer is the extraction of attachments from
messages. The Vodafone SHARK team have helped a lot with that, and I
don't think there's much more I can do there.
So I'm going to try to speed up SpamAssassin, by trying it without a
timeout. You will be able to control whether this feature is switched on
or off. By default I'll ship it in the "safe" mode with a timeout. I'll
let you experiment for a while before even contemplating changing the
default timeout to 0 (i.e. no timeout at all).

Happy New Year everyone!
