run as user question? {Scanned}

Hi,
Im running MailScanner 4.31.6-1 with postfix version 2.
I want to change the owner of the quarintine dir and files
But mailscanner is set to run as user/group 'postfix'
Will it run ok, if i set the 'run as' user/group to 'root'
and then change the quartine user as a normal user in the system?
The reson for asking this is the server is a production machine, and i cant afford to crash it!!!!!!!
