I am using Outlook 2000 & XP and I simply click on "reply" to reply. If I get the bad reply-to address, I click "reply-all", then remove the adress of the sender so it goes only to the list.

i had seen that you are sometimes breaking threads since i am on this list,
i am using mozilla.

afaik

1. m$-fooling
m$ does not use the header "References"

eg.

<original-posting-snip>

Message-ID:  <001d01c4224b$91a1ad00$2001a8c0 at cnpapers.net>

</snip>

<reply-snip>

References: <001d01c4224b$91a1ad00$2001a8c0 at cnpapers.net>

</snip>

the only possibility to sort threads is than by the subject
which brings immediately the second m$-fooling in game.

2. m$-fooling
your m$ is changing the subject to "RE :"
afaik this should be "Re: "
i do not know if you can change this settings.

examples:

"original-subject"    <somebody>
"Re: original-subject"    <others>
--> you are splitting the thread
"RE : original-subject"    <m$, without references>

--> sometimes you are splitting the thread once again by adding a second
"RE :"
"RE :  RE : original-subject"    <m$, without references>
