Suggested debugging method, David:

Create a local test account on your mailscanner system, with an empty mail
spool. Send a meeting request to it. When the message has been delivered,
stop mailscanner, restart your original MTA, archive the spool (mv
/var/spool/mail/testacct /var/spool/mail/testacct.first), send another
meeting request to it. When the message has been delivered, stop your MTA,
and restart mailscanner.

Then diff the testacct.first and testacct files to see if there's a
significant difference.
