kavdaemon 4.0.1 support?

Yes - please see the comment in /usr/lib/MailScanner/kavdaemonclient-wrapper -

# It uses AvpDaemonClient from /opt/AVP/DaemonClients/Sample1
# You should build it like this:
#   cd /opt/AVP/DaemonClients
#   ./configure
#   make
#   cp Sample1/AvpDaemonClient /usr/local/bin

Please use the latest MailScanner beta, as it contains fix for kavdaemonclient
outout parsing.
