Julian,
Incoming phone calls, faxes, and e-mail to a mailbox off the system are running at
amazing levels, even for a Monday.
I'll try to keep this in some sense, but mail didn't run for long after getting
build 5 in, when I got up this afternoon mqueue.in was heavily loaded.
I saw the message about build 7, so I went and grabbed it and started removing the
"old" RPMs. Not all of them believed they were installed:
[root at verbose RPM]# cd MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e mailscanner
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-Convert-TNEF
error: package perl-Convert-TNEF is not installed
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-MIME-tools
error: package perl-MIME-tools is not installed
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-MailTools
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-HTML-Parser
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-HTML-Tagset
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-File-Temp
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-File-Spec
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-MIME-Base64
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e perl-IO-stringy
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -e tnef
When I ran the script, the first error I caught was this:
Missing file /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/noarch/perl-TimeDate-1.1301-1.noarch.rpm.
Maybe it did not build correctly?
Installing perl-MailTools-1.50-1.src.rpm
Executing(%prep): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.64099
Executing(%build): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.64099
Checking for Net::SMTP...ok
Alas, the Control-C that copied that to the clipboard also canceled the script, so
I restarted it and took some very hazy notes that suggested the TimeDate and
MIME-Tools didn't make it. Running
rpm -Uvh perl-TimeDate-1.1301-1.src.rpm
got be the string of ### and counted to 100%, but
rpm -e perl-TimeDate
reports that perl-TimeDate is not installed.
After installing (but before checking) on that I tried the rpmbuild --rebuild you
suggested.
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpmbuild --rebuild
perl-MIME-tools-5.411-pl3.1.src.rpm
Installing perl-MIME-tools-5.411-pl3.1.src.rpm
error: failed build dependencies:
perl >= 2:5.8.0 is needed by perl-MIME-tools-5.411-pl3.1
[root at verbose MailScanner-4.00.0a9-7]# rpm -Uvh
perl-MIME-tools-5.411-pl3.1.noarch.rpm
error: open of perl-MIME-tools-5.411-pl3.1.noarch.rpm failed: No such
file or directory
Perl greater than 5.8 is needed? I hope not. Reving perl is almost as scary as
reving Apache in my experience! Are you sure you don't want access to this
machine?
I'm going to see what I can do from the CPAN shell, it doesn't have any problem
installing MIME-tools, which is a good thing because somewhere in my traumatized
thrashing about in the last half hour the mqueue.in has cleared.
