sendmail/mailscanner taking 19 hours to scan two attachments

  Our corporate email system is now taking the better part of a day to 
scan attachments. I need help please.

Fedora 8 (werewolf), kernel 2.6.24.3-34.fc8 on a Dell server.
sendmail 8.14.2
MailScanner-4.67.6-1
Clam 0.92-1
razor-agents-2.84
SpamAssassin
perl5

/var/log/maillog only has one consistent error:

ERROR: MALFORMED DATABASE
