Assumed disk failure?

I guess the memory could be causing it, but I would assume I would have more problems than just this one file. This one file is not in a ram disk but on the hard drive.

Are you sure you are not having memory problems instead? It is highly
recommended to run that directory from a ram-disk. If it is your case,
you may be running short on memory or having a faulty memory chip.
