sendmail mailscanner exchange gateway

Hi All
 
I have setup a gateway using sendmail, mailscanner then to exhange as found

Using this method however has its problems. Unknown email addresses are not rejected at the MTA level, which causes unneccessary load on MS.
 
Is there a method where I can configure sendmail to accept only valid email address then process it by mailscanner and smtp forwarded to the desired exchange server?
