Remove HTML From Messages

Hello:

We have a requirement to convert HTML for specific users into text only.  I
know there is a setting that converts HTML to plain text, but the resulting
message is still a 'multi-part-alternative' with 2 text parts.  Is there any
method that will just remove the HTML parts altogether and leave only the
text/plain part?
