As my good friend Mike pointed out (thanks Mike), it turns out that I needed to add a flag to the "FLAGS=" section of /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd. It now reads "FLAGS= -r". Works like a charm. Hopefully if anyone else has this problem, they'll find this message.
