Well after a visit to the #POSTFIX group on irc.freenode.net, it was 
determined that I needed to add

scache    unix  -       -       n       -       1       scache

to the bottom of /etc/postfix/master.cf, after that and a postqueue -f, all 
was good with the world, not sure why things changed <shrug>
