Sendmail patch breaks plain text auth

I had the same problem but fixed it by doing the following.

# vi /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf
   (it should say pwcheck_method: saslauthd)

# vi /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd
 (it should say MECH=pam)

Then run:
alternatives --config mta
and set it to sendmail

restart/start saslauthd
