Tim,
My servers don't accept mail from outside our University (blocked by
iptables). Emails could have entered from some other server on the
campus and relayed to my servers, though... but would not have made it
back to the outside world unless perfectly clean!
Fortunately, they blacklist for *only* 24 hours when something hits
their smap traps...
