Ruleset unconfusion

OK, so it was the naming. I would suggest that the wording of

ruleset files end in “.rules”. This is usually not absolutely necessary, 
but will avoid a few. problems in specific situations

from the book and

Ruleset files should all be put in [...]  and  their  filename  should 
end in ".rules" wherever possible.

from the man page could possibly do with some tweaking.
