I just confirmed that this is the exact same problem as the well-known
fedora/RHEL4 one, namely that you need install a working libstdc++5
(in parallell with the version 6 one). Simple fix is to
urpmi libstdc++5
... and you are done;-).
I'll update the wiki so this is more clear.
It's like this for 10.1 too, but I'd just forgotten I'd installed it.
Sigh. RALM type of memory there (==Really Agedecrepit Lossy Memory:).
