Commercial virus checker failed with real error

Also check that you have sane values for things like nproc etc (basically "ulimit -Ha" and looking through /etc/security/limits). But as Julian says, first look at memory consumption... Usually it:)

If it can't fork then something on your system is leaking. When that
happens, what does /proc/meminfo contain, and how big is the output
from "ps ax". Are you running out of process ids or something like that?
