OT postfix question

Isn't this due to the (sometimes unfortunate) append_at_myorigin
and perhaps append_dot_mydomain?
Look at "man 5 postconf" Pete...

These can have some real fun implications, especially in a situation
where you have no local delivery at all (as I assume this to be).
