Postfix messages freeze up in queue

This is the second time I have had this happen in 6 weeks. Incoming and
outgoing email will get stuck in the postfix queue. This time it went on
for almost 7 hours before anyone noticed. After restarting Mailscanner
(which also restarts postfix) everything will then get delivered. Any
thoughts or suggestions as to why this is happening. I had to completely
take Mailscanner out of the process of things untill I can track down
the exact problem. I did not find much of anything in my log files. What
can I look for in my log files?
