piping mail to Mailscanner

You are trying to achieve something which won't work. Mailscanner works on
mail queues, nothing else. If you can get getmail (whatever that is) to
deliver to a queue directory in queue file format, ok, if not, it won't work.
I'd ask on the getmail list rather than here.
