I installed from the tar.gz option which makes it dead easy to move back
  to old versions.

If you've used the rpm's, Julain's gone through this a couple of time in
the last two weeks - worth checking the archives..

When I've upgraded SA before I've done it from source as that was
available first, but I did my initial 2.61 from CPAN...advise from this
list seems to be use the source though..
