missing perl files in perl-tar

Julian,
What I would do is create an "optional" subdirectory under perl-tar,
put the extra modules in there, along with a README file as to why
they are there and why they are optional.
Hope you are enjoying Portland, Oregon in the Northwest. Next trip come
to Portland, Maine in the NorthEast. As I remember the story, the
Oregon town was named after the Maine town. A homesick Mainer stuck
out west, I think. Or maybe they just wanted to confuse travelers and
airlines for eons to come.
