STARTTLS error

Hello,
I know this isn't a MailScanner error, however its only just started to
happen on our Redhat 9.0 machines and I thought i would try this list
for help:

The error is STARTTLS: read error=generic SSL error (0)

Having done a google search i found this:

Ok, I don't have a site.config.m4 on our installation. We are using
sendmail 8.12.4. I have not upgraded to 8.13 as we haven't found the rpm
or the source applicable for redhat 9.

There are no mailboxes or pop3 users on these servers.

Any clues as to why it suddenly happened?
