please search the archives. You will easily find quite some people
reporting their hardware/os configuration together with throughput
figures. In short (and Julian will probably correct me): MailScanner
scans the mails in batches. You can define how many MailScanner
instances you wish and how big the batches are supposed to be. Therefore
there is no simple answer to your question.

MailScanner will however NOT call the command-line scanners for every
attachment of every mail.
