Uhm, upgrade MS and F-Prot first, i know this sounds silly but really you
should. F-Prot 3.x is not picking up (all) new virusses and you should not
be running the 3.x version any longer.

MS is on 4.29 currently, your time would be better invested by simply
upgrading, i am allmost sure your problem will be gone afterwards.
