queue gets backed up frequently

UPDATE:

don,

your suggestion did not work unfortunately.

it (the clog) happened again early this morning. starting at about
1:30am and finishing at 3am. this time the clog didn't get too big
(probably because it happened during low traffic hours). but even though
i'm running the check_MailScanner file every 5 minutes i still had my
problem *and* it spanned a total time of 1.5 hours.

any more ideas?
