queries abt mailscanner MRTG

i have a linux box runnig red hat 8

and have installed mailscanner 4.28
with  clamav 0.67
and spamassassin 2.31

i am running clamav daemon manually using a rc script and so also
freshclam which updates the database for clamav

now do i need to run clamav daemon and if so is there a script which can
help me

also do i have to run freshclam to update my database or can it be done by
mailscanner
