We are running:
Mailscanner: 4.23-11
Redhat9 w/ upgrades
Syslog package: sysklogd-1.4.1-12

Back on September 3rd, Julian said the SIGPIPE wasn't serious.  I'm not quite 
sure but it sounds like syslog-ng may work better then syslogd/klogd.
