Addendum for you Pete - don't forget that after adding a group membership
for an account, you will have to log the account out and back in for it to
pick up the changes.

In other words, apache wouldn't benefit from being added to the bayes group
until you ran:
/etc/init.d/httpd stop
/etc/init.d/httpd start
(...of course the init script may be elsewhere on your system.)

And similarly, postfix wouldn't pick up the change till it was restarted,
although as someone else pointed out that wouldn't matter if the files are
already owned by postfix.
