Change to the directory with the linux.intel.libc6.tar.Z file in (or
whatever Sophos file you need)...

gunzip linux.intel.libc6.tar.Z

tar xvf linux.intel.libc6.tar

This will create and populate  a directory named sav-install

Yes, it will automatically detect that the archive has already been
extracted.
