I'm extremely happy with IMP (www.horde.org). It's more difficult to set up than
SquirrelMail, but it's well worth it; I started out with SquirrelMail, but once
I got IMP set up, I've never looked back.

Horde has turned into quite a web-based groupware solution, but IMP (for
webmail) is really its flagship application.
