If I remember correctly the /etc/sasldb file must be 0600 or you'll see
the error message about it being group readable.  On the other the latest
versions of sendmail are no longer run as root and can't read the
/etc/sasldb file if the permission is 0600.

The sendmail doc's suggest using the DONT_BLAME_SENDMAIL directive in
sendmail.mc get around this.
