Installation question

Hi Julian

Not sure if Im getting somewhere with this or not.. however trying to
run manually:

rpm --rebuild perl-IO-stringy-2.108-1.src.rpm

as suggested, and as expected it does indeed bomb out with the
following:

+ mkdir -p
/var/tmp/perl-IO-stringy-root//usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.45481 (%install)

I might be on the wrong tracks but would I be right in saying its around
the mkdir command where its failing.. if so then its this part in the
rpm file:

rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT
eval `perl '-V:installarchlib'`
mkdir -p $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/$installarchlib

this deletes the dir structure and then recreates it.. However if I
manually run:

mkdir -p /var/tmp/perl-IO-stringy-root//usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux

It creates the directories up to and including "5.00503" BUT i386-linux
is not created for some reason? Any ideas, or should it not be visible?

I'm wondering if this is indeed the problem, in that its not creating
the dir and therefore bombing out as it can't find it??

Regards

Steve
