Messages stuck in /var/spool/mqueue.in

What do you mean by "stuck"?  When you run mailq
-OQueueDirectory=/var/spool/mqueue.in, what is the reason listed for each
message in the queue?  If it says something like "Deferred: DNS Timeout" or
"Deferred: Connection refused", you're probably just seeing the normal queue
time for a message that can't be delivered due to some problem with an
external site (invalid domain name, dead mx servers, misconfigured mx
servers, etc).

Depending on how your timeouts are set, they may be there for five days or
longer before they completely time out.  And then the bounce may be there
for another five days if that fails too. :-)
