Mailscanner not pulling mail from mqueue.in

New install of Freebsd 4.8 and mailscanner 4.22.5 from ports.

I've set sendmail_enable="NONE" in rc.conf to disable rc.conf's sendmail
startup and enabled /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mta.sh to start the two
instances of sendmail.  I've enabled /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mailscanner.sh,
changed no options in /usr/local/etc/MailScanner/MailScanner.conf and
rebooted.

Now, sendmail accepts email and dumps it in /var/spool/mqueue.in like
it's supposed to but it never gets picked up by mailscanner for delivery
to /var/spool/mqueue.

I've checked ps -ax to show it running as it should but it never picks
up email, restarted mailscanner.rc, rebooted, etc to no avail.

Any suggestions?
