Virus Scan or Attachment Filename Check first?

Does Mailscanner before the virus scan or the attachment filename
check first? And if the first one means the attachment will be
rejected does it then perform the second one anyway?

The reason I ask is that it seems more efficient to perform the
filename check first (I presume that's a very lightweight operation),
and then if it's not dropped go on to do the virus scan.

If it doesn't do this - can it?
