I've tweaked the logging today so that most of the "nothing interesting
happened" messages will disappear.

MailScanner puts it in the outgoing sendmail's message queue, and then asks
sendmail to deliver it (which should cause something in your maillog). Make
sure your MailScanner.conf setting
Outgoing Queue Dir = /var/spool/mqueue
is not something like
Outgoing Queue Dir = /var/mail
as 1 user did a while ago. MailScanner doesn't try to deliver mail.
Sendmail is very good at it, so I don't try to re-invent the wheel.
