Port 25 not open

hi, the version of RH does matter in this case
try rebuilding sendmail using 
m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/sendmail.cf
it was RH8 that started putting sendmail.cf in
/etc/mail , prior it is located in /etc
