If it did, it wouldn't be very "successful" as it would require a whole
series of actions by the user, not just a single click. The really dumb
users, who are most susceptible to the Social Engineering attack mechanisms
used by current viruses, wouldn't even know what to do with a zip file anyway.

The time you do need to be able to scan inside compressed archives is for
finding macro viruses.
