problems running auto-update....

Talking of autoupdate, I note that the autoupdate script
for mcafee changed significantly since 3.15 release. The
older script did various bits of sanity checking to ensure
that there was always a valid set of dat files, even if
the autoupdate failed.

Not so with the new version. I just wondered what the
reason behind the change was?
