I have an update to this situation. I checked the actual db files (on 3 servers):<br>
<br>
-rw-r--r-- 1 clamav clamav 1319031 Aug 26 14:09 viruses.db<br>
-rw-r--r-- 1 clamav clamav 20802 Aug 28 17:01 viruses.db2<br>
<br>
and I see that I do have the latest db, it's just not logged.<br>

I use the 'freshclam' method for updating. Freshclam is a daemon and
logs it's activity in /var/log/clam-update.log by default. I have it set
to check 2 times a day with this in my startup scripts:<br>
<br>
/usr/local/bin/freshclam -d -c 2 -l /var/log/clam-update.log<br>
<br>
I just checked and my last update is:<br>
<br>
Checking for a new database - started at Fri Aug 22 17:17:07 2003<br>
viruses.db is up to date.<br>
Database updated (containing in total 9340 signatures).<br>
Database updated from clamav.elektrapro.com.<br>

I see that there is a newer db listed on the site <br>
<br>
<small><b>released at 19:56 on 28/8/2003 GMT</b></small><br>
<br>
so this worries me. I noticed that freshclam dies sometimes and even though
it is not the case this time on my server I don't know why it did not update.
So, maybe calling it from Mailscanner is a better solution.<br>
