rules folder changing?

I'm running MailScanner on a CentOS 7 server that runs WHM/cPanel.

Recently, I noticed that the rules sets at /usr/mailscanner/etc/rules 
periodically revert to some earlier settings I had set in some of the files.

The most recent change occurred at 2017-07-02 00:00:05 ... and I don't 
know why.

At that time, the following files were touched:

spam.action.rules
spam.blacklist.rules
spam.scanning.rules
spam.score.rules
spam.whitelist.rules
spamhigh.action.rules
spamhigh.score.rules
virus.delivery.rules
virus.scanning.rules

The other rules in the folder were not touched.

I can't find any cron job that might explain it.

Is there something in MailScanner that might account for this?
