We started a mass migration to Ubuntu 1604 LTS earlier this year and have to say we would never go back to Centos or RedHat now. It is completely backward and version limited compared to Ubuntu, and the Yum/RPM configuration is simply archaic compared to "apt". The management of SystemD and backwards compatibility with system V scripts on Centos7/Redhat 7 is botched at best. My only regret is that we didn't dump Redhat/centos earlier. You also need to consider that RedHat bought out all the Centos core developers and its owned/funded by RedHat now so there is a commercial incentive to make it an inferior product now to entice people to move to RHEL. There is also no upgrade path on Centos or RedHat between major version revisions so you have to re-install which is a massive "ball-ache" to say the least. This is done because RedHat market and sell their support based on Major revisions and allowing an upgrade mechanism between say Centos 6 and Centos 7 would scupper that revenue stream. And the final point, RedHat just feels a bit basic, primitive and rubbish after using Ubuntu. So take the plunge, yo won't regret it!
