Blocking All Attachments

Has anyone ever tried blocking any attachments that is not specifically allowed in filename.rules.conf ? For example, if some text document can through with the extension .foobar. .foobar is not a listed extension as alllowed, so it is denied. I am not sure how a regex statement at the end of the configuration file that is essentially a deny all would behave.
