MS Gateway for Exchange 2013 - Any LDAP documentation?

Thanks to all for your responses.  I am going to see what I can do with the Edge Transport and will let everyone know how that works out.

I have several ways to make this work so no worries.

I use getadsmtp.py to get a list of acceptable recipients.  I just run it every hour and let the smtp server check the list.
