Mailscanner does not scan mails

I updated the new MailScanner.conf manually with the settings from the old 
one.

 how did you upgrade - jump from 4.55 to 4.81 is a big one...did you check 
all the settings are still correct in the merges MailScanner.conf?

The Incoming Queue Dir is configured correctly:

Incoming Queue Dir = /var/spool/postfix/hold

When I start the job with strace the Mailscanner processs seem to look
into the queue directory every 6 seconds:

There are several new messages in the directory /var/spool/postfix/hold
but MailScanner does not pick them.

any idea how to get this to work?
Previus Version MailScanner-4.52.2 is working fine.
