Maybe not what you like to hear. But signature detection will never win
the race. Just about any AV manufacturer is aware of that by now.

The way that MailScanner calls upon scanners may inhibit features of the
product that you choose that will lower the detection rate.

On the other hand many of the other tricks available to a postmaster by
tightening up the MTA of choice and running MailScanner and all will get
the same results.
