Performance between SpamAssassin 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 and 3.2.3

DNS timeouts were horribly broken in one or more of the SA 3.2.x series.
SA 3.2.3 with the 5589 patch seems to do the right thing.
And then you hit the incredible slowness of completewhois DNS lookups.
I've disabled even trying to use them.
in spam.assassin.prefs.conf I've put:
score __RCVD_IN_WHOIS 0
score RCVD_IN_WHOIS_INVALID 0
score URIBL_COMPLETEWHOIS 0
That should help a lot.
