Personally I have found PolicyD (http://www.policyd.org/) to have better performance and reliability than SQLgrey.

Well, everything in that article is working, but I do want to add greylisting. 
I will try your suggestion first. The mail gateway is on an esx server, so it’s easy to roll back screw-up’s J

Sorry ☺ My Linux noobness showing again… Postfix is what I am using. I found a few how-to’s for spam gateways and it wasn’t until one specific one (http://www.howtoforge.com/postfix_antispam_mailscanner_clamav_ubuntu ) that went smooth which sort of defined what I was going to use. 



So do you have it all working now ? 

For the record, I use postgrey with postfix (obviously) http://postgrey.schweikert.ch/ 

Works very well.
